ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (POWER ELECTRONICS)

£45,585 - £54,395 Per Year, Permanent

Posted: 8 days ago

University of Warwick

Description:

Based in the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick, the Power Electronics Applications and Technology in Energy Research (PEATER) group has built a reputation as a world-leading research group working in power electronics. We are now seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor on the traditional research and teaching pathway in an area that strengthens, or expands upon, our current areas of expertise.

We will consider applicants with expertise and experience in any area of power electronics, and the post would offer opportunities to develop expertise in device design, fabrication and testing. Possible research areas include but are not limited to: power semiconductor device design and optimisation; power electronic system design and development; wide bandgap semiconductor materials; power semiconductor device fabrication; and power device reliability and characterisation. We encourage applications from candidates with existing collaborations with, and links to, the power electronics industry.

Candidates will be expected to teach existing and new modules to the highest quality in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Discipline Stream in the School of Engineering. Such topics will include power electronics converters, semiconductor devices, electrical and electronic circuits, and energy management and power systems.

You will be appointed for a probationary period (usually five years) during which there is a reduced teaching and administration load to enable you to establish your research group. Successful completion of probation will coincide with promotion to a permanent Associate Professor position.

We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
