Senior Electronics Engineer - Development

Stockport - Hybrid

We are recruiting for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join us in our R&D function onsite in Stockport. Our brand new Stockport facility is the centre of excellence for our laser systems design and manufacturing.

This role is to be responsible for the design and development of electronics hardware, joining a team of electronics engineers within R&D. A fantastic opportunity to join our growing Stockport site and Novanta business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyse basic product functional requirements, provided by the Project Managers/Customers and expand into detailed product requirement architecture definitions.
  • Electronics design and development; simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout & BOM generation.
  • Prototype functional testing and verification.
  • Enhancement and support of existing products.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and other Engineers.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers as required.
  • Mentor/lead less experienced Engineers.
  • Undertake work as per development processes, procedures and specifications.
  • Compliance with company ISO membership requirements .
  • Produce hardware technical documentation and document control of electronics drawings, BOMs.
  • Design/Enhance/bug fix firmware (desirable)
  • Produce firmware technical documentation and repository control (desirable).

Skills and Experience:

As an ideal candidate for the role of Senior Electronics Engineer (Development), you should have;

  • A degree in Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
  • Proven post graduate industrial experience in a related area.
  • A good understanding of analogue, digital and embedded electronics (microcontroller-controlled systems).
  • Proficiency in Schematic entry and PCB layout.
  • Good hands-on electronics experience; soldering skills: use of regular electronics lab equipment, etc.
  • Good organisational and analytical skills.
  • Able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good team player with ability to work independently.
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience of design for EMC and safety standards compliance.
  • Integrated Development Environments as required for firmware development (desirable)
  • Firmware and hardware Version Control Systems (VCS) (desirable).
  • Experience of firmware development (desirable).
