Your role and responsibilities

As part of Energy Industries' growth plan, we have a new opportunity for a Technical Trainer to deliver and support ABB University training courses on ABB Process Automation products and systems to customers, and internal ABB personnel.

This role will include delivering training at ABB’s facilities and at customers sites within the UK. Alongside delivering training, responsibilities include maintenance of the classroom, equipment and courseware, creation of customised course content and supporting the University team. You will also be responsible for:

  • Developing course material for classroom and on-site training in their own area of responsibility and advise on updates needed in e-learning material(s).
  • Creating and updating course descriptions and course programs.
  • Preparing and delivering training courses in classroom or on-site and follow up on post- training day activities (e.g., course feedback collection, and possible corrective action on course material and equipment).
  • Procuring and maintaining course equipment for training courses in their own area of responsibility.
  • Considering feedback given on courses and implement corrective action(s) when needed.
  • Ensuring excellent customer service and to secure high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensuring that Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements are integrated and are up to date in all business processes and applications used for training.
  • Supporting course administration and sales through answering enquiries and generating proposals for training courses.
  • Maintaining close contact with technical Product Management, Project Management, Engineering, Sales, and other stakeholder groups that support the development and delivery of training courses.
  • Supporting wider PAEN team when necessary, using their own expertise in technical support tasks.

Qualifications for the role

  • Knowledge of ABB’s Products and Systems, in particular 800xA and 800M highly beneficial
  • Experience in teaching external training courses.
  • Able to travel to UK based customer sites.
  • Soft skills to manage customer expectations and deliver high quality solutions
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Networks Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or similar STEM foundations - desirable
  • Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, Industrial Networks and Cyber Security - desirable
